212 Gives Back—Advocating for Children’s Rights

Every December, we launch our “212 Gives Back” initiative by giving all our employees an extra Christmas bonus. Rather than using this money for themselves, employees choose a local non-profit to donate to, and then share what they love about that organization with the rest of the team.

Office Manager Melissa Katip has decided to support CASA of Kosciusko County this year to make sure local kids facing the scary realities of the court system get the advocacy they deserve. “The children stuck in the court system need someone on their side to protect their rights and ensure what’s best for them,” says Melissa, who has a heart for the foster care and court system because of her own family’s experiences.

CASA seeks to protect children’s rights to be safe and respected throughout court proceedings. Ultimately, CASA of Kosciusko County is trying to heal a broken system and help children get placed with loving families—because every child deserves to grow up in a nurturing home.

“I want to make sure these kids have someone to advocate for them and make the best decisions on their behalf,” Melissa continues. Her firsthand experience with the hardships children face in the court system intensifies her desire to ensure all kids have a qualified, compassionate adult to their rights amidst all the uncertainty in their lives. “I love supporting an organization that provides this opportunity for children.”

Visit CASA of Kosciusko County’s website to find out how you can get involved in protecting the rights of local children.
