At 212 Media Studios, we believe that giving is more than just something you should do out of habit every December. Giving is really important—and can literally change both the recipient and the giver. That’s why this holiday season, 212 Media Studios is spending 12 days focusing exclusively on what it means to give.
We at 212 Media Studios are a passionate bunch, and we want to give. About a year ago, our CEO, Justin Farrell, wanted to incorporate volunteerism into our company culture. Justin and many other employees were already actively involved in giving back to the community outside of work, so it only made sense to look for opportunities in which we as a company could give back together. And so, “212 Gives Back” was born—an initiative for volunteering in the community.
After reaching out to contacts in the community, we had a better understanding of where the needs were and how we could help. The first official initiative started with Kosciusko Community Senior Services’ sock-hop-themed prom. The team pulled together to help with set up and working the event. Seeing the joy, appreciation, and excitement on the faces of attendees touched our hearts and motivated us to seek other opportunities.
After that, we had the privilege to help Combined Community Services with its Blue Jeans and BBQ event, and got involved with United Way’s Day of Caring.
The time spent working together toward a cause helped to bond our team and let our guards down. That momentum carried over into our work as we felt more supportive of one and other. Through these small acts of kindness, and partnerships we realized we had the resources to make an impact on someone’s life.
“I have loved volunteering with my co-workers. Working together in a different, selfless capacity creates a bond that goes deeper than just collaborating on a work project. It definitely brings us closer together, knowing we’re serving others and making a difference.” – Melissa Katip
212 Gives Back is weaved into our culture, and this holiday season we’re coming together to bring the joy and love of Christmas to two deserving families in our community. We are internally raising funds to go out and purchase gifts for each family to put under their trees this Christmas.
“Giving is about more than just money. It’s also donating resources, skills, and time.” – Justin Farrell
We get excited thinking of the future and the impact we can have on our community through partnerships with other companies.
Take time this holiday season to reflect on what you or your company can do to give back!
