212 Gives Back – Melissa Katip

My family has been involved in foster care work since I was a baby, and we have all seen firsthand what abuse, abandonment, and neglect can do to a child. Most of these kids don’t have anyone to speak on their behalf or to give them the love, time, and respect they need. Anyone who wants to help provide a safe, loving relationship for a child and advocate for them is a hero.

I’ve chosen to give to Kosciusko CASA. CASA “supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every abused or neglected child in the United States can be safe, have a permanent home and the opportunity to thrive.” The volunteers at CASA are a voice for the voiceless, a light in a child’s otherwise dark life.
