Inbound marketing focuses on creating quality content that pulls people toward your company and product naturally. Consumers don’t want to be advertised to like the rest of the masses. They want to find a company that is working hard to meet their needs, not just pushing products in their face.

Inbound marketing is powerful—and it works. Here are three reasons you should use it for your business:

1. Attract Specific Types of Customers.

Your marketing can be tailored to the audience you choose. Think about it for a second: If you sell skateboards, you could publish reviews on the latest models. People looking for a new skateboard are likely interested in skateboard reviews. If you meet their need by providing a quality and true review, you just might find that they trust you and purchase from you. As a bonus, even if they don’t buy your board, you have established yourself as an authority and a trusted resource.

2. Establish Your Authority.

If you want to be viewed as credible in your industry, you have to display your expertise. Something as simple as starting a blog can make a huge difference. But maybe you’re saying to yourself, “That’s great, but my business doesn’t really have anything to share.”

You are an expert in your field—that’s why you offer the products and services you do. Talk about your merchandise and how it improves the lives of others, then get creative and talk about details surrounding it. If you sell car parts, talk about how being sure your car is in tip-top shape is important before road trips. Do product reviews and recommendations. Share your knowledge!

People want to be able to trust you and know your product before buying from you. Give them some extra information and make it count.

The stats don’t lie. 66% of U.S. citizens are on the FTC’s Do Not Call Registry; 44% of mail is never opened; and 86% of people don’t watch TV ads. Traditional marketing does have its place and can still be really effective, but most marketing has made a huge shift to the digital world.

According to Voltier Digital, inbound marketing costs 62% less than traditional outbound marketing. It’s hard to argue with that logic.

Inbound marketing is so powerful because it lets you create content specifically for your customers. Traditional forms of marketing are often aimed at the masses, whereas today’s successful marketing is often targeted at very specific types of people.
