What Exactly is a Landing Page?

212 Media Studios landing page

So you’re browsing your favorite social media website, and you click on a link from a brand you follow. The link takes you to a webpage. The page has an awesome design and is probably offering you something (most likely free) from this company. All you have to do to claim your free gift or prize is fill out a small form with your name and email address. Pretty simple. So, you fill it out and get what you came for—because everybody loves free stuff.

The page you just visited is called a landing page, which is a webpage specifically designed to convert website visitors into future customers. A company puts out an offer like a coupon or special video to capture the attention of its followers. When people visit the landing page to claim the offer, they provide their email addresses in exchange for it. In doing so, they are often signing up for email marketing from the company. This allows the company to directly communicate a targeted message to those who fill out the form. It really creates a win-win situation for both the consumer and the company. Businesses are able to send targeted messages and information to potential clients in exchange for a small giveaway. This is how landing pages work.

This leads us to the question: “Can my business use a landing page, and if so, how?”
The answer to that is a resounding YES!

Your business can definitely take advantage of this inbound marketing strategy. Landing pages can attract future customers. It’s actually easier than you might think. If you (or someone at your business) are familiar with website management, it is a very simple process. Just follow these steps:

  1. Come up with a giveaway.

  3. Create a landing page on your website.

    • Use an image to represent the offer to help drive traffic.

    • Describe the offer and its benefits.

    • Include a form to fill out to receive the giveaway.

  4. Use your current marketing channels to share the offer.

Once you have followed these steps, you can use this contact information to market specifically to this group. Perhaps they would be interested in a specific product you offer. Use the data you gathered from your landing page to further promote your business’ products to potential customers.
